Race Coaching Sessions (2)
The club is organising a short course of RACE COACHING, lead by Tim Rush, an experienced RYA and class coach.
The course is to be held over two Monday evenings:
Monday 9th May and Monday 16th May
Start time (boats rigged and ready): 6:30pm finishing at approx. 9pm.
Not all of the time will be “on-water” time.
This particular course is for SINGLE HANDERS with their own boats, and it is aimed at the bronze / silver fleet helms, who have at least one year’s experience of club racing. If you have only recently become a gold fleet helm, then this course may also be suitable for you. It is also suitable for those who occasionally attend open meetings at other clubs, and would like to sail at more, but who haven’t yet made their way up from the lower reaches of the results table.
The course will be a general course, helping you to improve your sailing and racing skills. It is not an RYA course, and it does not have a fixed syllabus, but it will be varied to suit the helms and conditions. In other words, it is coaching rather than instructing.
The course is for a maximum of 10 helms (with a minimum of 6 helms). The cost of the course depends on participation numbers, as we have to cover coaching and other costs.
The maximum cost will be £15 per person (for the course of 2 evenings) but if we get 10 helms the course cost will be £10 per person.
The course does not include food: please bring your own sandwiches if you will need them.
The course will be available on a “First Come, First Served” basis. Please register your interest for this “May Evening Coaching Course” by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org
This is a new initiative for the club, and we hope that it will be well received. If it is successful, then we hope to be able to run more evening short courses whenever we can get a group together. (Maybe a “gold” group in the future as well??)
Note: DOUBLE HANDERS: our coach doesn’t mix single and double handers within a course. If we can get together a group of 6 double hander boats (max) – then we will try to run a course for you in the future.
