The Lark, a 2 person non-trapeze dinghy, was designed in 1966 by Michael Jackson, designer of many National 12 and Merlin Rockets. The hull made of G.R.P. is 4.065 metres in length, and carries a sail area of 9.75 square metres upwind and a spinnaker of 7.4 square metres.  It is still one of the fastest non-trapeze dinghies available.

Although a one-design class, the Lark Class Rules cater for a choice of many fittings, including foils and sails. The class is suited to a wide range of crew weights, typically from 18 stone up to 25 stone. Since the classes conception there have been four builders, Bakers the original builders, G.W. Parkers, Rondar Raceboats and leading dinghy builder, Ovington Boats.
